This course is a TCOLE accredited, half day (4 hour) course of instruction that focuses on how to initiate persons or vehicle of interest and effecting a successful and safe traffic stop. This course is a night time course, starting with 2 hours of in class instruction and ending with 2 hours of controlled field work. This course will focus on how to begin a traffic stop before the stop has even begun, how to safely approach and complete the stop, as well as signs and hints that will lead to a field investigation and subsequent arrest to include safe evidence collection. This course also goes over how the rights and powers of the law enforcement officer and how to use their rights and powers to their advantage. This course is IMPERATIVE for any uniformed law enforcement officer that is expected to conduct “routine” traffic stops as well as any officers that are looking to start vehicle interdiction efforts.
